Structure of the the International Go Federation

The organization of the IGF is as follows:

• General Meeting of members
• Board of Directors
• IGF Office

The General Meeting is the supreme decision-making organ of the IGF. The minutes of the last two General meetings are available electronically on request.

The Board of Directors of the IGF consists of eleven directors, ten of whom are elected by the General Meeting. The eleventh being the Assistant Office Director, who is appointed by the Office Director. The ten elected directors come from the different zones as listed below. In principle there are no elected directors of the same nationality.

• Asia zone: 4
• Europe zone: 2
• North, Central and South America zone: 2
• Oceania zone: 1
• Other area: 1

The term of office for directors is two years. However, re-election is permitted. The Board of Directors decides on all matters concerning the operations of the IGF. The Board of Directors is responsible to the General Meeting. The Board can delegate its powers to the IGF-Office, but it bears the responsibility.
The IGF office is responsible for financial matters, the organisation of our main Championships and to maintain and improve relations with our stakeholders, such as sponsors and governments. Accounts are audited, the statements for the last 2 years certifying our financial position

CHU WA is the transliteration in Japanese of this calligraphy kindly donated by Go Seigen to the IGF during the 28th WAGC. It can be translated as "Centre Harmony". As he explained, Go is not a fight but harmony between White and Black. In being neither right nor left, neither top nor bottom, harmony is maintained and is peace and the essence of Go.
Go Seigen wants to give it to everyone in the world.
