IGF and other International Events

IGF is the main organizer of the World Amateur Go Championship. In 2008 in the 29th World Amateur Go Championship in Tokyo, Japan, a number of 69 players from 69 countries and territories participated.

Every year also the IGF assists in the organisation of the International Amateur Pair Go Championships and provides support for other international events such as the Korea Prime Minister Cup International Amateur Baduk Championships (2006 and 2007).

At the World Amatuer Go Championships, each year an increasing number of countries send one of their top amateur players to compete for the title.
Here we can see some of the boards at a WAGC, with players, game recorders and spectators.
Despite other countries trying hard to win, only Asian countries have won the WAGC so far.
