40th World Amateur Go Championship in Matsue, Japan on May 30–June 7
The 40th World Amateur Go Championship tournament is held this year in Matsue City, Shimane prefecture in Japan from May 30 till June 7. Altogether 59 players from all around the world join in an eight-round Swiss tournament, with top eight players getting prizes. All games are played with Japanese rules, without handicaps, and with a komi of 6.5 points. Time settings are 60 minutes main time with a Japanese overtime of three periods of 30 seconds.

- May 30: Registration in Tokyo
- May 31: Transportation from Tokyo to Shimane
- June 1:
- 11:30–12:00: Orientation
- 13:30–15:30: Friendship matches with local players
- 17:00–17:30: Press event
- 18:00–20:00: Opening ceremony
- June 2:
- 9:30–12:30: Round 1
- 13:30–16:30: Round 2
- June 3:
- 9:30–12:30: Round 3
- 13:30–16:30: Round 4
- June 4:
- 9:30–12:30: Round 5
