Antigua Guatemala to host 2nd Latin American Go Congress
On October 13-16 the Guatemala Igo Club along with the Ibero American Go Federation (FIG) will host the 2nd Latin American Go Congress on the colonial town of Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala. This event is made possible thanks to IGF’s sponsorship and Pandanet‘s support.
The 3 day Congress will host a wide variety of Championships such as the Ibero Open, the Latin Youth Open and the Ibero Pair Champ. It will also hold the final match of the 2nd Pandanet Go Latin American Team Championship between Chile and Mexico.
One of the main attraction are the expected pro players from Korea and US, for teaching lectures and playing simultaneous games with contestants. On October 16th a guided sightseeing is scheduled.
It’s worth mentioning that this year’s Ibero Go Open Championship will be held in memorial of Hans Pietsch, the only German professional from Nihon Kiin who was murdered on 2003 during an official visit from Japanese pros to Guatemala. After 15 years of his dead, his wish of promoting Go in this region of the world is being fulfilled through this event.
If you are looking for a nice cultural experience besides enjoying Go activities on a weekend this event is suit for you.
