Argentine Go Tournament – August 18 to 20, 2018
The tournament that will start in a few days is promising to be one of the most successful tournaments in the Argentine Go Association history. There are already 53 players registered for the tournament, beating the previous record of 42 players in 2009.
This is the second time the tournament is presential and the first time it will be held in Rosario, Santa Fe, a beautiful city in the center of Argentina. The location for the tournament will be the magnificent Espacio Cultural Universitario of Rosario, a previous branch of the National Bank of Argentina.
All the players from the local go club in Rosario, one of the biggest go clubs in Argentina, are working very hard in the organization. They have already surprised the players with a preview of the badges containing different tsumegos and other souvenirs.
A highlight of this tournament is the presence of Lee Eodeokdung 2p, professional player of Korea, invited by the Korean Baduk Association. He will provide reviews of the games of the tournament and give a series of lectures at the end of each day. For many of the players participating it will be the first time to have such an experience.
The Argentine Go Association is very thanked to KBA for this opportunity.
As a satellite activity to the Argentine Go Tournament, the Go Club of Puerto Madryn has organized a go meeting in their city during August 13 to 16. Lee Eodeokdung will also participate in this meeting, as well as local players and players from other cities. On Monday 13th, there will be a friendly meeting at the Escuela Mutualista of Puerto Madryn. This school holds a weekly go workshop for their students, and they are looking forward to meet Mr. Lee. It will be a great experience to see how communication through the game of go can remove the language barrier between them.
Puerto Madryn is located by the sea in the south of Argentina and is world-famous for the whales that every year visit their beaches. Participants in the meeting will also have the opportunity to have a take a full day trip in the surroundings that includes a whale watching boat trip.
Thrilling days are coming for the go players in Argentina and everyone is waiting for the activities to start.
