Artem Kachanovskyi 2p Wins 6th European Grand Slam Tournament
The Grand Slam is one of the brightest highlights in the European go calendar, with a €10,000 prize for the winner. The five past editions were organised in Berlin from 2015 until 2019. In 2020, unfortunately, the competition was cancelled due to travelling restrictions caused by the global pandemic.
This year’s edition of the Grand Slam, titled ‘Lanke Cup’ after the name of its sponsor, took place in Belgrade, Serbia on December 16–19. The tournament brought together the 16 strongest European players. Eight professionals certified by the EGF qualified automatically, while the other players had to pass a selection.
Artem Kachanovskyi 2p remained undefeated after four rounds of the knockout, thus claiming the champion’s title. At the end of this article, you can find a record of the final game, played between Artem and Tanguy Le Calvé 1p.
