FRANCE TO HOST 2011 EUROPEAN GO CONGRESS IN BORDEAUX
The 55th annual European Go Congress – the largest annual go event in Europe – will be held July 23rd to August 6th in Bordeaux, France. Hundreds of go players will gather on the campus of Bordeaux University in Talence to battle for top European titles as well as participate in side tournaments, simultaneous games with professional players and many activities designed to showcase the beautiful Bordeaux region. Events include the main European tournament, with ten rounds over the two-week Congress, the final of the European Team Championship — sponsored by Pandanet — a pairgo tournament sponsored by the World Pair-Go Association, a weekend tournament and many other events including 9×9, 13×13, blitz, youth and computer tournaments. The EGC has been hosted by France three times previously, in Paris, Grenoble and Marseille.
