Latin American Virtual Go Congress to Start in October
Over 200 players from over 20 countries have signed up so far for the first Latin American Virtual Go Congress which will take place from October 3 to 11 on KGS, OGS, and Twitch. This Congress comes in as a substitute of the 4th Latin American Go Congress which was supposed to be held in Buenos Aires at the same date, but has been postponed to next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Congress promises to be one of the biggest go events in Latin American history, with six tournaments taking place on a span of nine days. Besides these tournaments, other activities such as workshops and game reviews with Mateusz Surma 2p from the EGF will be broadcasted through Twitch. It bears mentioning that Mateusz happens to speak Spanish fluently.
Organised by the Argentinian Go Association and supported by the Ibero American Go Federation, the Congress stands as a joint venture between different groups of tournament organisers. Examples of this are the Ibero American Go Federation Gender Commission who are running the Female Championship, the ‘Tres Águilas’ Organisation who are running the Youth Championship, the Chilean Go Federation who are running the Pair Go Tournament, and Guatemalan players who are running the Random Rengo Tournament.
