Ilya Shikshin Wins European Championship 2020
This year the European Championship took place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From September 24th till November 2nd, the top 32 European players were fighting for the title of the European champion.
The following four European professional players made it to the semi-finals:
– Mateusz Surma 2p (Poland) v. Ilya Shikshin 3p (Russia)
– Ali Jabarin 2p (Israel) v. Artem Kachanovskyi 2p (Ukraine)
Starting from the semi-finals, the participants played best-of-three matches instead of just one game. In the semi-finals, Ilya won with a score of 2-1 against Mateusz, while Ali won with the same score against Artem.
In the match for third place, Artem won with a score of 2-0 against Mateusz and, in the final, Ilya won against Ali with a score of 2-1.
