Korean Cultural Center in Mexico to organize Pan-American Baduk Championship
For the first time in the continent’s history a Pan-American Baduk Championship is being held by the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Mexico City on November.
Korean Cultural Center through its First Secretary and Cultural Aggregate Mr. Ki Jin Song sent an invitation to all national Go associations in America for each of them to choose 2 national representatives to play an online qualifier on the Korean based server Tygem, in which top 5 players from different nationalities would be selected to come to Mexico on November with all expenses paid to play the final stage of this event.
Players from USA, Canada, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Brasil, Ecuador, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Peru played on this qualifier in which the top 5 players were: Aaron Ye-USA, Manuel Velasco-Canada, Fernando Aguilar-Argentina, Alfonso Artigue-Uruguay and Abner Turkieltaub Melo-Chile.
Mexico wasn’t invited to the online qualifier because as host country of this Championship it got a seeded seat into the final stage, so the KCC held a Mexican online qualifier also on Tygem to choose the Mexican representative who came out to be Abraham Florencia.
The final stage of this event will take place on November 10th in Mexico City. Success to all 6 participants!
